Express Your Commute During Rideshare Week
Rideshare Week, held October 6 - 10, is an annual event designed to increase awareness about the benefits of using sustainable transportation such as carpooling, vanpooling, riding the bus, bicycling, walking, and telecommuting. Commuters are asked to make a commitment to use an alternative form of transportation (other than driving alone) at least one day during Rideshare Week in order to help relieve our congested streets and highways, improve air quality, and save energy resources and commute costs. Rideshare Week aims to educate and remind individuals about their transportation choices. Rideshare Week 2009 is scheduled for October 5 - 9.

Rideshare Week Kicked Off October 3 at the Old Town Trolley Station

Employer Workshop
Rideshare Week 2008 also is a great time for local companies to consider new commute options for employees. SANDAG can help design programs for the workplace such as vanpooling, carpooling, riding transit, or bicycling. SANDAG helps small, medium, and large companies in the San Diego region customize transportation benefits programs and realize great tax savings.
As part of Rideshare Week, SANDAG hosted a free workshop for employers to learn about the commute choices they can offer their employees. The four new lanes open on the I-15 from Rancho Peñasquitos to Rancho Bernardo were highlighted.
