Vanpools are a comfortable, cost-effective and convenient way for groups of people to share their ride to work.

RideLink will help you get started by providing a list of people interested in vanpooling and offers $400 monthly toward each approved vanpool leased through one of our contracted vanpool vendors - Enterprise Rideshare and VPSI.

Through the contracted vendors, Enterprise Rideshare and VPSI, vanpool drivers are offered month-to-month leases on passenger vans that include maintenance, roadside assistance, and insurance costs. Drivers have access to the van after work hours and can even log personal miles.

By vanpooling three or more times each week, you also can take advantage of the Guaranteed Ride Home program.

To get started, sign up with iCommute and select a recurring trip. Fill out your starting and ending destinations and receive a customized list of others who work and live near you. You can also join an existing vanpool by viewing the available vanpool seats.

Once you have enough passengers to start your vanpool, complete the Vanpool Participation Guidelines and Application form and submit it to an authorized vanpool vendor.

Vanpooling makes your commute easier and puts money back in your pocket. Plus vanpools can take advantage of HOV lanes so your commute is quicker.

For more information, dial 511 from any phone and say RideLink when prompted or e-mail us at vanpool@sandag.org.

Park and Ride Lots

Conveniently located throughout the region, Park and Ride lots are free and a great place to meet your carpool, vanpool, bus, or Trolley.

All but a few lots are linked directly to the California Highway Patrol and others have public phones nearby.

For more information about Park and Ride lots throughout the region, please contact Mike Roy, Caltrans District 11 Park & Ride Coordinator, at (619) 688-6489.
